Château Val d'Arenc - Bandol Rosé 2021

IN STOCK

In Provence, one is more likely to find rich, mouth-filling reds and fleshy rosés made by one of the locals rather than a boldly ethereal red and a crisp, aromatic rosé made by a Burgundian. Since the Sénéclauze family hired the energetic Dijon native and Burgundian-trained Gérald Damidot to run their historic family estate in 2015, they have aimed for the stars. Domaine Val d’Arenc is idyllically situated outside the village of Le Beausset among olive groves and 26 hectares of vineyards.

Starting with the 2017 harvest, all of the vines of Val d'Arenc have been converted to Certified Organic farming. Using a light Burgundian touch in the cellar, Gérald mostly de-stems (although not systematically), presses the grapes gently, and cold-macerates to preserve their liveliness. The fresh fruit of the vineyards inspires him to create wines of the structure and minerality that wine lovers appreciate in Bandol, all with a truly special balance and grace. Vivacious and energetic, the wines are as reflective of the terroir as they are of their creator.

Seductive notes of citrus fruit, white peach, red berries and pink grapefruit offer up a mouthful of succulence on a satiny textured palate. Its fine creamy minerality persists through a long, ample yet refreshing finish.
