Domaine François Carillon's Puligny Montrachet Le Clos du Vieux is sourced from a small monopole close to the village that is surrounded by high walls. It displays a gently smoky nose, with ripe stone-fruit and white flowers. The fore-palate is structured and tense, with more reticent fruit than the villages cuvée. Rigorous and precise, with a struck-match mineral definition.

"The colour is a thrilling bright daffodil yellow. There is more weight to the nose but not necessarily more class. Taking into account the location with three metre high walls trapping the warm aur, François picked four days before the main harvest. The wine is juicy with a little oak showing, less racy than the regular Puligny, and the fruit sits a little further back on the palate.
