Garesio - Barolo 'Commune di Serralunga' 2015

Garesio Serralunga d’Alba Barolo is produced grapes cultivated in Cerretta and Gianetto crus, within the commune of Serralunga d’Alba, adjacent to the Garesio cellar. Serralunga d’Alba soils are some of the oldest, dating back to the Lequio formation (Helvetian), and are rich in sandstone and limestone, giving intense brick-colored wines with strong structure and thick, enveloping tannins. However, the different expositions and elevations of these vineyards, combined with the prevalance of sandy soils, result in softer and more balanced Barolos. This wine is made with certified organic grapes.
Vinonueva notes: This 2015 is drinking amazing now with a very intense bouquet and smooth tannins. Highly recommended and without a doubt this wine is the value play in the Garesio Barolo range. This Commune di Serralunga comes from the mid slope of the Gianetto and Cerretta vineyards. Tasted last time on 03/2024 at the Garesio tasting at Vinonueva with owner Giovanna Geresio. Favorite wine of the night.
"The Garesio 2015 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a spicy and robust interpretation of Nebbiolo that delivers a very developed savory side. There is dark primary fruit at the core of the wine, but more attention is drawn to aromas of spice, tobacco and campfire embers. The heat of the vintage may have played a small role in drying out some of the wine's fruity freshness. You also get the power and concentration that are characteristics of this comune within the Barolo appellation. I would suggest a near or mediumterm drinking window." - 91 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
