Domaine Henri Magnien - Gevrey-Chambertin 'Vieilles Vignes' 2021

IN STOCK

Founded in 1987, Domaine Henri Magnien is a small family estate, with 6 hectares, located in Gevrey-Chambertin. After working side by side with his father Francois, Charles took over the domaine in 2012 and has taken the wines to new heights. He is considered to be one of the rising stars in Burgundy.

They have been using an old clone which is called Pinot Noir Magnien, aged between 70 to 100 years old, bringing unusual power and spiciness to the wines. The domaine has many of the very best vineyards, including Lavaux St-Jacques, Les Cazetiers and Ruchottes-Chambertin. In the past five years, they have converted 70-80% of their vineyards to organic viticulture.

An amazing effort from Charles Magnien. This old vines village wine is an overachiever and so delicious, loaded with red fruits and nice structure. Long and spicy finish. Don't miss out on this one - Vinonueva

"...from 40 to 100-year-old vines located in 8 different lieux-dits though one-third of the blend is from Les Journaux in Brochon...Here too there is a whiff of wood framing denser aromas of just crushed dark berries and forest floor. There is even better volume and concentration to the middleweight flavors that are relatively sleekly texture thanks largely to the firm but fine tannins shaping the noticeably more complex and persistent finale. Worth checking out. Oustanding Top Value! - Allen Meadows,  Burghound
