Albesani is a beautiful vineyard, situated in the municipality of Neive, with excellent exposure and altitude. A rich, elegant, sometimes austere wine, capable of combining great pleasure and excellent ageing potential. A small number of bottles of a very special Barbaresco!
Aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for up to 18 months, followed by a further 12 months in the bottle in special cool, dark cellars.
Color is deep garnet red. Bouquet of this wine offers highly complex, open and very pleasant aromas; flowers and scents of red fruit dominate but notes of hay, spices and tobacco also provide great depth and fullness. On the palate is rich, elegant, sometimes austere, capable of combining great pleasure and excellent ageing potential. A small number of bottles of a very special Barbaresco!
This wine achieves its finest expression when paired with red meat, particularly game, and truffles. It is also excellent with fresh-egg pasta dishes with meat sauces, or risotto, not to mention medium-mature cow’s and goat’s milk cheeses.
"The 2019 Barbaresco Albesani captures all the breadth and resonance that is such a signature of this famous hillside site in Neive. Red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal, lavender, menthol and licorice build with a bit of time in the glass. Bright acids and lively tannins add energy to this super-classic, inviting Barbaresco from Massolino. The 2019 is a dream, not to mention a superb debut." - 94 points, Antonio Galloni Vinous
"Massolino has added a few terrific new Barbarescos to its lineup. The 2019 Barbaresco Albesani is one of these. With fruit from a 0.6-hectare growing site at a warm 230 meters in elevation, the wine shows broad knitting and dark fruit nuances of blackcurrant and cherry. There is spice, toast and mineral at the back." - 94 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
