Neal Family Vineyards - Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Mark Neal is considered the most prominent organic and biodynamic farmers in Napa Valley and currently farms the most significant certified organic acreage, 841 acres, as the owner of both Jack Neal and Son Vineyard Management (JNS) and Neal Family Vineyards. Additionally, he’s consulting with a notable wine management group on the transition of 450 conventionally farmed acres to certified organic. Over the years, Mark has collected generational knowledge working alongside his father, developed tools for precise farming and viticulture needs, and invented technological tools that result in the most elegant and complex wines. Mark has worked in the wine business since 1966, and during that time, he’s assembled passionate teams at both JNS and Neal Family Vineyards that now include four of his children. Mark is the true definition of a vigneron. 

Tasting notes from winery: 'Opening a fresh bottle of this wine shows that it is young, juicy, and sits with its bright crimson color. Characteristics of Maraschino cherries, Red Delicious apple, a hint of savoriness, and strong tannins makes this a powerful one. Another bottle was double decanted 2 hours prior for comparison that unfolded its true colors. The red fruit quality evolved into black currant, plum, and baked cranberry with allspice. The hint of savoriness matured into smoked meats, thyme, and black pepper. The tannins softened immensely and made this wine even more enjoyable and sound. Even a day after, it is still incredibly impressive. Our policy of releasing wines when we think they're ready really shows in this wine.'
