After launching his namesake winery in 1991, Paul Hobbs established Crossbarn in 2000 to honor his family’s farming heritage and values of farming sustainably. What began as just one small lot of cabernet sauvignon from the inaugural vintage gradually evolved to introduce chardonnay and pinot noir.
With a commitment to sustainable vineyard practices and gentle winemaking techniques, Crossbarn wines offer a pure and youthful expression of fruit blended from diverse vineyards within California’s finest appellations.
Sonoma County stretches from the Pacific Coast in the west to the Mayacamas Mountains in the east, and is home to almost 60,000 acres of vineyards. Within the borders are 18 AVAs, each with its own distinctive characteristics.
This is an elegant and intensely structured wine. Sourced from prime sites in Alexander Valley and Moon Mountain District, this garnet colored cabernet sauvignon beautifully encapsulates the breadth of Sonoma County with aromas of forest fruits, dark chocolate shavings, and a hint of dried herbs. Plush red fruits burst on the palate with a touch of cassis, supported by fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity, and a lingering finish. Blend: 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc.
"A berry and cherry red with brightness and elegance. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a long, linear finish. Blackcurrants and chocolate. Some pine cone, too. Lots of finesse and savoriness." - 93 points, James Suckling
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma County) is bright, punchy and full of character. Crushed rocks, rose petal, mint, spice and blood orange lend nuance to this fresh, vibrant Sonoma Cabernet. All the elements are so well balanced. The 2019 is an absolute winner from Paul Hobbs and his team at Crossbarn.”- Antonio Galloni, Vinous
