This Barolo is grown in different small vineyards and aged for 18 months in large wood. An elegant and smooth Barolo on the palate, characterized by rich and wide aromas of plum, violet and licorice, underlined by a balsamic note. The tannins are perfectly balanced with the fruit, which reveals notes of raspberry and cherry.
Highly recommended entry level Barolo from Costamagna. Overdelivers for its price point. Super delicate, lovely aromatics and classic style.
"The 2017 Barolo is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next few years. Crushed red berry, spice, mint and sweet Öoral notes all meld together in this mid-weight, silky Barolo. This is such a delicious entry-level offering. Drink it over the next handful of years" - 90 points, Antonio Galloni Vinous
"Very perfumed with roses and ripe strawberries on the nose. A hint of ash. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Structured young wine. Needs a few years. Try after 2023" - 93 points, James Suckling
