The legendary maestro, Mariano Garcia founded Bodegas Mauro in 1980 as an homage to his father, in the historic town of Tudelo, by the River Duero in the province of Valladolid. Mariano García was the first degree-holding winemaker at Vega Sicilia, where his father had always worked and where he himself had been born.
Much credit for Ribera’s rapid ascent goes to Mariano García. Mariano Garcia is a very historical figure in Ribera. He has been making wine in Ribera since 1968.

75% is French oak and the remaining 25% American, with drying of at least 3 years and extra fine grain. The time and type of aging is determined by each wine depending on the vineyards, the age of the vineyard and the characteristics of the vintage.
“I tasted two vintages of their eponymous flagship red, which always makes an interesting comparison. The cooler and wetter year shows in the character of the 2021 Mauro, showcasing the balance, depth, finesse and elegance of the wines from the year that represent the finest collection I can remember from them. It has a bright ruby color and a floral and fragrant nose with impeccable ripeness and balance. It is juicy, velvety, tasty and balanced. Bravo!” - 95 Points, Wine Advocate
