Dominio de Atauta - Ribera del Duero 2020

At an altitude of 1,000 meters in the Soria town of Atauta, there is a unique valley that constitutes an authentic enological and ethnographic jewel. In this unique enclave, Bodegas Dominio de Atauta literally stands with the purpose of reflecting in its wines all the peculiarities that the Tinto Fino variety is capable of offering from pre-phylloxera vines that are more than a century old.

Bodegas Dominio de Atauta drinks from the tradition of a valley with more than five centuries of winemaking tradition and with extreme conditions, both due to the altitude at which it is located, as well as a climate with little rain and large temperature fluctuations.

Based on these bases, the philosophy that Bodegas Dominio de Atauta has followed since its inception has been to pamper the fruit obtained in the vineyard throughout the entire cycle with exceptional qualities and carry out a careful intervention in the winery.

Over the years and adding an excellent human factor to the unique conditions of the terroir, Dominio de Atauta's wines have managed to carve out a niche for themselves among some of the most renowned wines from such an outstanding Designation of Origin as Ribera del Duero.

The wine is made from a selection of very old vineyards with vines planted on sandy soil with cobbles, which provides a better maturation and a further fruity intensity. The vinification process is carried out in villages using concrete and stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in wooden tanks and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

"I love the 2018 Dominio de Atauta, a wine of balance and freshness, with more finesse, juicy and with very fine chalky tannins and lots of youth. The wine is still a little tight, but should develop nicely in bottle. There is full ripeness here, and the grapes developed lots of flavor and aromas; the cycle was longer and the quality of the tannins also different. 43,167 bottles and 990 magnums produced.
