All Kistler Chardonnays are produced from one proprietary, heritage California selection that brings low yields, tiny berries, great concentration of both flavor and texture, and naturally low pH with high acids. Planting this one selection of Chardonnay across all vineyards is the realization of Kistler’s vision in 1978 to exhibit a transparency to site in our wines. Yields are 2.5 to 3 tons per acre on average in Chardonnay plantings.
Located on the eastern flank bench of Sonoma Mountain where redwoods thrive in a very rare for the area mix of Sonoma volcanics and limestone. Produces one of our more elegantly scented Chardonnays, perfumed by delicate morning floral and citrus blossom aromas, leading to a chalk like, subtle, ethereal core of fruit and lovely acidity.
Sourced primarily from Vine Hill, Trenton Roadhouse, Dutton Ranch, and Laguna Ridge Vineyard. Hand harvested at night. Long, gentle whole cluster pressing into barrel. Native yeast fermentation. Aged 10 months on the lees in barrel.
