Fred Savart often has good ideas so when he came to us with his latest project, Éphémère, we paid attention. Back in 2014, he and four longtime friends with a common passion for wine and culture, noticed there were prime vineyards in Champagne that were not being adequately appreciated, so they conceived this project to promote these prime sites and create a small business out of it.
The team includes: Fred Savart, the instigator and inimitable advisor, a friendly broker capable of finding these well-positioned sites, Philippe and Manu, knowledgeable tasters with a distribution and marketing prowess in France and Champagne Drémont with holdings mainly in the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Oger & Mesnil). Their first cuvées were sold exclusively in France in 2019 but now, a few years later with Fred’s help, the wines are being released in the US for the first time. While enhanced exposure of these special sites was the initial objective, their project has evolved with loftier ambitions and they are starting their first vinification with the 2023 harvest. The process is well underway and this story has just begun.
Ephemeral 025 is a blend of Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, coming exclusively from Grand Cru plots. The grapes come from the 2018 vintage, then the wine was bottled in July 2019. It is non-dosed .
