Fortunate Son, initially launched in 2009 under the Hundred Acre umbrella, was reborn in 2018 as its own sister brand to the cult winery, reimagined by renowned winemaker Jayson Woodbridge. Since this relaunch, the boutique winery has rapidly ascended to cult status in its own right, standing as a testament to Woodbridge's incredible talents and dedication to Napa's heritage.
Crafting meticulously produced Cabernet Sauvignons and blends that showcase the best of Napa's terroir, Fortunate Son combines innovative viticultural practices with a commitment to preserving historic vineyards. These styles offers wine enthusiasts a chance to indulge in exceptional, cult-caliber wines at a more accessible price point than its esteemed sibling, delivering a premier California wine experience.
At the heart of Fortunate Son's operation is the Historic David Fulton Vineyard, one of Napa's oldest and longest continuously family-owned properties. This acquisition underscores Woodbridge's commitment to preserving the valley's viticultural legacy, a mission he's pursued for over 25 years through collaborations with small family-owned vineyards across the region.
Sourced from small, family vineyards, (in some cases for 3-4 generations) that are farmed with great care and attention. Aged for 34 months in 100% new French oak.
"100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 30–32 months in ultra-tight grain French oak barriques. The wine displays a shimmering, lucid ruby colour. Gorgeous, dusty, dark berry fruit unfolds with an incredible panoply of mulled Christmas spices and warm berry pie compote. Full-bodied and texturally defined, framed by a core of ultra-fine tannins with added dark berry fruit depth. It is a meal unto itself but better paired with roasted meats drizzled in rich plum sauce and accompanied by prosciutto-wrapped figs." - 97 Points, Decanter
