Arnot-Roberts - Chardonnay 'Trout Gulch Vineyard' 2018

IN STOCK

Arnot-Roberts was founded in Healdsburg in 2001 by childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts. Beginning with one barrel of wine made in their basement, the winery started small and grew slowly by sourcing grapes from some of the most remarkable vineyards in California. Duncan and Nathan grew up together in the Napa Valley and from an early age were immersed in the rhythm of agrarian life surrounded by the vineyards and winemaking of the early 1980’s.

The focus of Arnot-Roberts is to produce distinctive, site-driven wines that highlight the nature of the unique terroirs in which the grapes are grown.

From dry farmed vines of old Wente clone, planted in 1980 and grown in sandy loam 3.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean near the town of Aptos in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. The grapes were whole cluster pressed, fermented in stainless steel by native yeasts, and aged in neutral French oak barrels. 28 barrels produced.

Antonio Galloni Vinous Media: "The 2018 Chardonnay Trout Gulch is loaded with personality and class. Citrus, dried flowers, mint and sage are some of the many nuances that grace this Chardonnay from the southern reaches of the Santa Cruz Mountains. In 2018, the Trout Gulch has more overt body and less of the sizzling cut it has had in some previous editions, which means it will drink nicely with just another year or two in bottle. There is still plenty of energy, but more mid-palate depth and less austerity than in some years. Drinking window: 2020 - 2028."
