Marchese Lodovico Antinori discovered the property of Tenuta di Biserno near Bibbona, in the Alta Maremma area of Tuscany, in 1994, while looking for additional land to expand his Tenuta dell’Ornellaia vineyard. Given its proximity to Bolgheri, it is not surprising he was at first struck by the similarity in terroir. What he found in Bibbona, however, had so much potential, he was inspired to develop a quite different plan. With more hills and stones than nearby Bolgheri, this land appeared to be ideally suited to produce a new and different wine. In 2001 Lodovico and his brother, Piero, established Tenuta di Biserno as an elite wine estate.
31% Syrah, 17% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 35% Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc Blend. Aged for about five months before bottling in oak.

“From the Campo di Sasso vineyard in Bibbona (the village adjacent to Bolgheri along the Tuscan coast), the Tenuta di Biserno Insoglio del Cinghiale is an easy blend of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot that undergoes winemaking mostly in stainless steel with some brief oak. It opens to a bright ruby color and offers dried raspberry, cherry and wild plum. This wine is all about primary fruit intensity, and if fruity freshness is what you're looking for, you get it here in spades. However with time, a hint of musky animal or leather does also appear, and a near-term drinking window is a safe bet.
