The history of Chateau Lagrange dates to 1796 when Napoleon's finance minister to Spain acquired the estate. Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, Chateau Lagrange extends over 117 hectares of gravel rises in the appellation of Saint Julien in the Medoc region. The estate's vineyards are managed plot by plot and are planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. Chateau Lagrange also practices plot by plot vinification in order to perfectly express the terroir and fine tune the blend.
48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and 11% Petit Verdot
“A good Les Fiefs de Lagrange that’s fruitier than the grand vin on the palate but remains demure and layered on the nose, showing a full picture of Bordeaux Left Bank complexity with currants, paprika, cocoa powder, cedar and fine spices. Fruity and round, this has judicious tannins and a refined, lengthy finish. Bravo for this producer! Really pleasant now but will hold.” 93 Points, James Suckling
“Ripe red and black currants, leafy tobacco, and loamy earthy notes all emerge from the 2022 Les Fiefs De Lagrange, a charming, medium to full-bodied, round, layered second wine that has ripe tannins, a layered, balanced mouthfeel, and a great finish.” 92 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
The 2022 Fiefs de Lagrange is a terrific second wine. Plump, juicy and super-expressive, the 2022 is a charmer. Succulent contours wrap around a core of ripe red-toned fruit, blood orange, cinnamon and mint.” - 90 Points, Vinous
