Matthiasson Wines, characterized by a commitment to sustainable agriculture and the local food movement, represents a natural extension of the founders' dedication to farming. With extensive experience in sustainable agriculture, Jill and Steve initiated Matthiasson Wines in 2003, grounding their venture in core values such as purity, sense of place, respect, responsibility, and deliciousness.
The wines crafted by Matthiasson are classical expressions of various grape varieties, ranging from well-known ones like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon to rare selections such as Ribolla Gialla and Refosco. Marked by deep flavors, these wines are not only refreshing but also serve as excellent complements to food, all while maintaining a moderate alcohol content.
Operating as a small family winery, Matthiasson is distinguished by its fierce independence, devoid of partners or investors. Instead, it thrives on the vision of Jill and Steve, supported by a dedicated and hardworking team. This independence enables the winery to embrace organic farming without compromise, both in the vineyard and the winery, resulting in the creation of the exquisite wines for which Matthiasson is renowned.
Grapes were pressed whole-cluster then settled in a cold tank for 24 hours. Wine fermented and aged “sur lees” in stainless steel barrels.
