Ossian is a winery located in the denomination of origin Rueda, specifically in the municipality of Nieva (Segovia) where it produces a wide range of high quality white wines of the Verdejo variety under the principles of organic viticulture. Its origins go back to the year 2005 when its founders Ismael Gozalo and Javier Zaccagnini decided to undertake this winery project to produce authentic Verdejo wines from some of the best vines of the denomination.
In 2013, the Ruiz Aragoneses family, founders of the Pago de Carraovejas Winery and owner of the restorative Segovia José María entered the shareholding of the winery becoming the owners of the winery, investing in a large project to make Verdejo wine. special in the entire region.
Ossian has very old vineyards surviving the phylloxera, some of which are over 100 years old, in an area of the denomination with peculiar characteristics due to its orographic and climatological conditions very close to the Sierra de Guadarrama at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. In addition, the soil is very complex, and is composed of numerous materials among which stand out the slate, clay and boulder that give the vines a special character
Antonio Galloni Vinous: Vinous: "Pale yellow-gold. Fresh peach, orange pith, pear and a suggestion of fennel on the powerfully scented nose, along with a hint of jasmine. Juicy and energetic in the mouth, offering vibrant Meyer lemon, pear nectar and honeysuckle flavors that are accented by a dusty mineral nuance. Silky and sharply focused on the finish, which shows strong, nervy lift, firm mineral cut and impressive persistence."
