Racines - Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills Cuvée 2021

IN STOCK

Racines is the first project outside of France for partners Etienne de Montille (Domaine de Montille), Brian Sieve (Domaine de Montille) and Rodolphe Peters (Champagne Pierre Peters) The focus of Racines is on the cool, maritime influenced vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills where they produce Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sparkling wines. Production methods are firmly rooted in the traditions of France with all native yeast fermentations, extended elevage, use of whole cluster for Pinot Noir and wines that have ample amounts of fresh acidity and the ability to age. In addition to the future Racines estate vineyard that is currently in development, they also work with some of the most compelling and historical vineyards in the region – Sanford & Benedict, Bentrock, La Rinconada and Wenzlau. Racines is quickly becoming one of the most exciting producers in the new world.  A singular that brings together some of the greatest winemaking talents in France together in one of the finest terroirs in America.

On average, 50% whole cluster is retained during fermentation using native yeast, with a combination of foulage and pigeage for about three weeks before being put to 228L barriques for 17 months (15% new).

"The 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills Cuvée is dense, plush and explosive. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. Bright red cherry/plum fruit, spice, cedar, new leather and spice infuse the 2021 with tons of nuance. This is a fabulous appellation-level wine.92 Points, Vinous
