The Weingart family has been living since at least the beginning of the 18th century in Spay. Florian’s parents were always active on the family farm, until their death in the 1960s restructured the farm into a pure winery and made it one of the best farms in the area.
Florian moved up with his wife with the completion of his training as a wine engineer in Geisenheim in 1996/1997. Initially steadily expanding, the husband and wife then consciously decided on a small, family-friendly and exclusively quality-focused business orientation. They now produce their grapes on a good 4.5 ha of estate-owned vineyards in Spay and Boppard. Of this, 0.75 ha are dedicated to Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), and the rest to Riesling. They also rent 1.4ha of vineyards from a farmer friend and part-time winemaker in Bacharach. These are managed on Florian's behalf, who focuses more on the harvest in Spay. All vineyards are located on steep slopes.
