Francesca Vajra, daughter of Aldo Vajra, will be visiting our shop for a wine tasting. We're thrilled to meet and have her join us for this tasting event. We've heard she has an exceptional palate and can bring to life the stories that make up the rich tapestry of Vajra and transport the audience to Piemonte. Join us for an evening of exceptional wines and fascinating tales from Francesca, who is undoubtedly stepping into the footprint of her mother Milena's exquisite personality and feminine touch in all things Vajra.
BACKGROUND
Vajra is a renowned winemaker located in the Piedmont region of Italy. The winery is known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the region's unique terroir. The Vajra family has been farming for centuries, with Aldo Vajra taking over the estate at a young age and turning it into a trailblazing force in the industry. Today, the winery is still family-owned and operated by husband and wife Aldo and Milena with their children Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro.

TERROIR & WINEMAKING
Located in Vergne, the highest village in Barolo, the winery's high-elevation vineyards are a unique factor in the Vajra wines, allowing them to express finesse and remarkable complexity over power. Sitting among the vineyards at an altitude of 400 meters, the family tends all forty hectares, including the outstanding Bricco delle Viole, one of the highest crus in Barolo.

The family's attention to detail and humility towards nature is evident in their uncompromised efforts to produce authentic wines. The winery is also dedicated to vineyard research, focusing on the influence of soil and climate change.
In addition to their flagship Barolo, the Vajra family produces a range of other outstanding wines, including a Dolcetto and a Barbera d'Alba, which are a testament to the Vajras' love for the native grapes, thus dedicating top vineyards to these fantastic varietals. They are also pioneering the rediscovery of Chiaretto di Nebbiolo and the wines of the 17th century through two limited-production wines: 'N.S. della Neve' (a champagne-method rosé) and 'Claré JC,' a partial whole-cluster Nebbiolo.
Overall, through their commitment to sustainable agriculture, traditional winemaking techniques, and vineyard research, they continue to innovate and push the boundaries of the industry while remaining true to their roots.
