Eusèbe Biotteau, an important figure in the Angers wine production, founded the vineyard in May 1938. After 50 years of hard work, Eusèbe Biotteau passed on his knowledge, expertise and passion for wine and vines to his sons and grandsons. Today, the 4th generation carries on the history of The Château d’ Avrillé.
The vineyard is comprised of 741 acres, 494 of which are vines and is located a few miles from Brissac-Quincé, in the heart of the Coteaux de l’Aubance and the Anjou Villages Brissac. Their vines are composed of Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau, Sauvignon, Chenin, and Chardonnay.
Pascal Biotteau is the current owner of the château. He is working with his 2 sons: Charles Eusébe, vineyard manager and winemaker; and Alexis who runs the business aspect of the property. Charles-Eusèbe has been working some plots in organic conversion and the entire vineyard will be fully certified in 2010. With such a vast Domaine they decided to do the organic conversion one plot at a time.
