Bodegas La Horra - Ribera del Duero 'Corimbo' 2021

IN STOCK - 4 left in stock

Bodegas RODA, after a trajectory of more than 20 years that have made it one of the most prestigious wineries in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, started an investigation through the Spanish territory in search of the best lands for the cultivation of Tempranillo outside of La Rioja.

The region that showed the best aptitude according to the criteria used was Ribera del Duero and, within this D.O., the La Horra area in the province of Burgos. This was the place chosen for, in April 2009, Bodegas LA HORRA was born with CORIMBO and CORIMBO I, wines with character, pleasant and elegant that are located at the top among the Ribera del Duero.

The area of La Horra was chosen for its old vineyards, for the potential and complexity of its tempranillos, as well as for being a cool area of the D.O., a necessary condition to elaborate the style of wines that we seek. It is an area with a long tradition in the cultivation of the vine that dates back to pre-Roman times and is highly prestigious today.

Corimbo is made 100% with the Tinta del País variety grown from an organic viticulture with bush vineyards and without irrigation located in the surroundings of La Horra and Roa de Duero (Burgos) for 25 to 30 years on average.

Fermentation: Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats, followed by malolactic fermentation i French oak barrels

Aging: 14 months in barrique, 80% French and 20% American

Colour: Very good intensity, with a picota cherry background and a blue-red rim.

Nose: Incredible fruity sensation, fresh blackberries and plums coming out of the glass. A very delicate interplay of fresh aromatic herbs can be appreciated. The oak is perfectly blended. The flavour of the wine can already be appreciated on the nose, fresh and fruity.

Palate: It is voluminous, full, long and delicate. With caressing tannins. The blackberry and plum make an appearance, leaving a truly pleasant sensation.

It has the peculiarity of having the expected volume in a great Ribera wine and at the same time the unexpected finesse in a wine of this youth. The fruity, tasty and fresh sensation of an enormous vintage remains in the palate. It is surely one of the best Corimbos so far.

"Aroms of plush dark chocolate, fresh blackberries and touches of graphite, roasted red peppers, fine sweet spices and minerals. Juicy and nicely chewy, with a medium to full body and a long finish. Tightly wound tannins, but there is no hint of over-extraction. 100% tempranillo. Drink or hold." - 94 Points, James Suckling

"The 2021 Corimbo was produced with Tinto Fino from vines between 25 and 30 years of age, from small plots in La Horra, Roa and other villages around them, and it fermented in French oak vat and matured for 14 months in oak barrels, 80% French and 20% American. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.72 and 4.9 grams of acidity. It's higher pitched than the 2022 that I tasted next to it: it has an herbal hint that provides freshness, the tannins have a different quality here, and the ripeness is better here. 50,902 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2023." - 93 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
