Finca Miguel (Morales de Toro, Zamora), where they owns 8.80 hectares of vineyards, with vines of the Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo clone) variety planted between 1930 and 1988. The vineyard is located at an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level, with a plantation framework of 750 vines per hectare. The entire vineyard is planted in goblet and has a yield of 1.5 kilograms per vine.
A plain full of sandy pieces of gravel with chalky clay underneath. Ungrafted bush vines of around 40 to 80 years old. The area has a continental climate with high range of temperature, big thermic differences and a rainfall around 400mm per year.
2016 Vintage:
Rainy Winter and Spring meant good water reserves, which proved useful to resist the harsh Summer months. Not a single drop of water from June to September. Nevertheless,
our old vines in Toro are strong; their deep and branched roots look for freshness and humidity in the deep layers of soil.
Made in 50 Hl tanks. Gentle extraction to respect the raw material. Macerations of 22 and 24 days; 10% whole grape. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and aging for 15 months on fine lees.
