The history of Chateau Lagrange dates to 1796 when Napoleon's finance minister to Spain acquired the estate. Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, Chateau Lagrange extends over 117 hectares of gravel rises in the appellation of Saint Julien in the Medoc region. Chateau Lagrange also practices plot by plot vinification in order to perfectly express the terroir and fine tune the blend.
52% Merlot 40% Cabernet Sauvignon 8% Petit Verdot. Traditional vinification at 2628 °C during 18 to 25 days Moderate pumpingover every day, or pigeage or delestage Malo lactic fermentation through co inoculation. Blending in January. Maturation for 13 months. 20 % of new oak barrels Final blending before bottling.
“A good Les Fiefs de Lagrange that’s fruitier than the grand vin on the palate but remains demure and layered on the nose, showing a full picture of Bordeaux Left Bank complexity with currants, paprika, cocoa powder, cedar and fine spices. Fruity and round, this has judicious tannins and a refined, lengthy finish. Bravo for this producer! Really pleasant now but will hold.” 93 Points, James Suckling
