The brothers took over the family estate that dates to 1820 in the early 1990s. Their "recipe" for old school Chassagne is very straight forward. Vincent is in the vineyards and tills regularly in order to fastidiously avoid herbicides and other chemicals. In the cellar François uses a light touch and no more than 1/3 new barrels for elevage. The Jouard's are blessed with prime parcels and old vines, adding to the excellent value of their wines.
“The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes presents a clean, fresh and focused bouquet with neatly integrated oak. It opens in the glass with orange blossom and Mirabelle scents. The palate is well-balanced with good weight, offering a mouth-filling experience and a slightly honeyed texture, yet it retains delineation and tension on the finish. Very fine.” - 90 Points, Vinous
