Bodega Noemia is one of the southern-most wineries in the world. A region of glacial origins with poor soil and limestone-rich bedrock, it benefits from the mineral-rich waters of the Limay and Neuquen rivers. First plated in 1932, the original pre-phylloxera rootstock of the vineyards was carefully resuscitated starting in 2001, and winemaker Hans Vinding-Diers oversaw the estate'd Massale selections in order to create tailored vineyard compositions. To amplify the terroir's signature in the final wines, fermentation is carried out using only indigenous yeasts. Committed to protecting this unique patrimony, almost all Bodega Noemia wines are produced in accordance with Argencert organic and Demeter biodynamic standards.
This wine is a deep violet color, with a bouquet of intense blackberry, black raspberry, and boysenberry. The tannins are long on the palate; with balanced vibrant acidity and a finish of graphite notes.
Alberto goes very well with white meats and game, but is versatile enough even to work well with fish.
Not your typical Malbec from Argentina, this style is more on the refined, fragrant and less concentrated side. A must try for anyone looking for an elegant style of Malbec.
"A full-bodied red with olives, blackberries, wild blueberries, mussel shells and hints of licorice on the nose. Fresh and creamy, structured too, with a delicious saline minerality and fine, tea-like tannins. Drink or hold." - 94 points, James Suckling
