Since the 19th century, the LARMANDIER family have been cultivating their vines in the premiers and grands crus of the Côte des Blancs. Chalk is the keystone of these great terroirs.
Indeed, among the different production areas of the Champagne appellation, only the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs are situated on the Campanian chalk which is at the origin of the elegant mineral quality of Larmandier-Bernier Champagnes.
Having been biodynamically produced for more than 20 years, Larmandier-Bernier’s Champagnes are unique: mature, mineral, pure, as close as they can be to their terroir.
« Longitude » means length and the very pure, straight style, from those great Côte des Blancs terroirs with practically outcropping chalk. It originates exclusively from the Chardonnay grapes grown on the Côte des Blancs: Vertus, Oger, Avize, Cramant, which form a line close to the 4th meridian.
This non-vintage cuvée contains 40% of wines coming from our perpetual reserve begun in 2004.
"Lovely classy green-gold colour shouts Chardonnay. Minerals, chalk, a hint of spices, and fine, fine tension in the mouth. Moreish and complete, a fine long wine. SF: Lively and energetic. The palate is spicy and firm with a soft white pepper backdrop. An accessible and ripe style, fresh and poised at the same time. TH: Slightly closed nose with grapefruit. Pretty high-pitched lemon pith notes coming through. It's a little uncompromising and hard for general champagne drinkers maybe, but this is a winner for those who like it honed, dry and persistent." - 95 points, Decanter
“The pale straw-colored NV Champagne Longitude takes its name from the fact that the vineyards form a line close to the 4th meridian from the north to the south villages above Vertus. The wine takes on a more direct nature, with mineral-tinged notes of lime blossom, fresh flowers, and wet stone. The palate is medium-bodied, with a chalky texture, a more linear feel and driving acidity, and a lively, peppery mousse with zest. Its oak is very well-balanced and really disappears into the profile, with a long, clean finish. It will do well to age another year.” - 93 Points Jeb Dunnuck
