Collard-Greffier is a family estate based in Congy, where three generations—Paul, his son Victor, and his grandson Romain—have passed down their passion for vines and Champagne. The village remains the center of the house’s winemaking, aging, and sales, while its vineyards unite two distinctive growing areas: Congy in the Marne and Fontaine in the Aube.
Situated approximately 30 kilometers south of Épernay, Congy lies between the Côte des Blancs and the Sézannais hills. Its south-facing slopes have chalk-dominated subsoils interspersed with sand, marl, clay, and limestone. Meunier accounts for nearly 60% of the village’s 75 hectares of vineyards, alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Most of Collard-Greffier’s vines lie in Fontaine, near Bar-sur-Aube in the Côte des Bar. Here, southeast-facing slopes and marl-limestone subsoils offer a contrasting setting. Pinot Noir represents approximately 73% of the village’s 45 hectares, reflecting its importance in this southern part of Champagne.
Across its own 20 vineyard plots, Collard-Greffier grows 67% Pinot Noir, 25% Meunier, and 8% Chardonnay. The vines average approximately twenty-five years old, with the oldest reaching seventy-five. By drawing on these complementary locations, grape varieties, and vine ages, the family creates blends that express the meeting of the Marne and the Aube, guided by knowledge passed from one generation to the next.
"A fresh and biscuity Champagne with notes of stone fruit, flowers and shortbread. It’s creamy and mellow with bright acidity, a medium body and fine bubbles. 50% pinot noir, 30% pinot meunier and 20% chardonnay. Drink now." - 91 Points, James Suckling
