Domaine Amélie & Charles Sparr - Pinot Noir "Carpe Diem' 2024

IN STOCK - 12 left in stock

Domaine Amélie & Charles Sparr is a young estate built on two long Alsatian wine histories. Charles comes from the Sparr family of growers and wine merchants; Amélie comes from the Barmès-Buecher winemaking family of Wettolsheim. Drawing on vineyard parcels inherited from both families, they founded their own domaine in 2017 to make dry wines that express their individual sites. Their vineyards span several Alsatian villages and include holdings in renowned Grand Cru sites.

The couple farms organically and biodynamically, with all of their vineyards certified under both practices as of the 2019 vintage. Grapes are harvested by hand, and the wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts. Riesling is a particular focus, from village and named-vineyard bottlings to Grand Cru wines; they also make Pinot Noir and Crémant d’Alsace. Across the range, the aim is clarity of place: wines with the ripeness Alsace can offer, shaped into a dry, energetic style.

The 2024 Carpe Diem is 100% Pinot Noir from granite and clay soils. The grapes are hand harvested, destemmed, and macerated for 10 to 12 days with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 months of aging in cask. Expect a fresh, fruit driven Pinot Noir with gentle but present tannins. Its balance of fruit and structure makes it a lovely match for roast poultry, mushrooms, or duck with cherries.
