In 1988, following the retirement of Mr. and Mrs. Jean LEGER, their daughter Christine and her husband Pascal DOUDEAU decided to take over the family farm, comprising 4 hectares in the Sancerre AOC, creating DOMAINE DOUDEAU-LEGER, named after their respective surnames. They developed the family business through direct sales at the estate and at trade shows. They have been members of Pari Fermier since 1994: pioneers of the association!
The vineyard is managed according to sustainable farming techniques, limiting fertilizers and pesticides, through regular weeding to remove weeds and aerate the soil, but also by adding natural fortifying elements for the vineyard such as manure, seaweed and trace elements: the vine is a capricious and vulnerable plant.
In the cellar, winemaking is carried out according to traditional methods, and all our production is bottled on the estate. Each plot is vinified differently to best reflect the exceptional terroir of Sancerre.
Currently, the estate comprises 10 hectares of vineyards planted with two main grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc (7.5 hectares) for white wines and Pinot Noir (2.5 hectares) for red and rosé wines. The majority of our vines are planted within the Sancerre AOC (9 hectares), allowing us to produce our traditional Sancerre white, red, and rosé wines. We also cultivate one hectare within the IGP Vin de Pays du Val de Loire, enabling us to expand our product range with the production of a Vin de Pays "Vent d'Ange" in white, red, and rosé, and a sparkling wine "Bulles d'Ange" in white and rosé.
Domaine Dudeau Leger Sancerre Blanc is a pale straw yellow in color. On the nose aromas of grass, apples, lemon with notes of spices and honey. The palate is fresh and juicy, the flavors of green apple and citrus are continuation of the bouquet. The wine is crisp, bright, lean and mouthwatering. Enjoy with goat cheese or shellfish.
