Michel Mallard and sons' vineyard is located in the commune of Ladoix-Serrigny, a small village at the junction between the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Vine growers from father to son for five generations, the vineyard has expanded over time and now cultivates 11 hectares of vineyards. Maryse and Patrick Mallard, at the head of this wine company, take care of this heritage in producing wines in Burgundy, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Chorey-les-Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune, Ladoix, Aloxe-Corton, Corton and Corton-Charlemagne appellations.
This Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet, is designed to be kept for many years, it is aged between 16 at 18 months in 70% new wood casks (228L Burgundian tuns).
"A very interesting nose is also brooding and only reluctantly exhibits hints of the exotic that include sandalwood and mandarin orange along with more typical notes of essence of red currant, earth, spice and ample floral influence. There is a wonderfully sleek texture to the impressively-scaled flavors that possess first-rate mid-palate concentration while delivering excellent persistence on the bitter cherry-inflected finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. One to consider provided you have the patience to cellar it for at least 6 to 8 years first." - 92 Points, Burghound
