Elena Walch - Lagrein Alto Adige - Südtirol Riserva 'Castel Ringberg' 2022

The Lagrein Riserva Vigna “Castel Ringberg” embodies the greatest complexity and structure of this indigenous Alto Adige variety. This single-vineyard wine from the top site Vigna “Castel Ringberg” in Caldaro unfolds a fascinating aromatic spectrum of dark berries, spices and delicate notes of tobacco, enveloped in velvety opulence and minerally length. The contrasting microclimate, with strong differences between day and night, produces a great wine with extremely low yields on complex limestone soils.

Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maturation for 20 months in French oak barriques. The wine is then being bottle aged for several months before being released.

The 2022 vintage promises excellence! A warm, stable summer yielded perfectly healthy, balanced grapes. The season started with a warm spring and early flowering, followed by a dry, hot summer. Our irrigation systems managed the drought well. The grapes reached excellent maturity with balanced acidity, supported by careful foliage management. Hand-harvesting began in late August. The resulting wines display complexity, structure, and excellent fruit character.
