Tenuta Sette Ponti lies near Castiglion Fibocchi, between Florence and Arezzo, in Tuscany’s historic Valdarno countryside. Its name means “seven bridges,” referring to the crossings of the Arno River along the route between the two cities. The property’s history includes ties to the Savoy-Aosta family, who owned the land before architect Alberto Moretti Cuseri purchased its original core in the 1950s.
Alberto cultivated grapes and olives, initially selling the grapes to other producers. The transformation into an estate producing its own wines came under his son, Antonio Moretti Cuseri, during the 1990s. An entrepreneur with a background in fashion and real estate, Antonio brought an exacting eye for detail to the vineyards, assembling specialist viticultural and winemaking expertise to explore the property’s potential. The estate’s first label was Crognolo, from the 1998 vintage, followed by Oreno in 1999.
Those wines express two complementary sides of Sette Ponti. Crognolo draws on the estate’s Sangiovese heritage, while Oreno reflects Antonio’s admiration for Bordeaux varieties and their capacity to produce elegant wines in Tuscany. Oreno became the estate’s signature international wine, establishing Sette Ponti’s reputation among the prominent producers of the Super Tuscan category.
Orma is deep ruby with garnet reflections. On the nose, the wine demonstrates presence and intensity of aroma. Notes of red and black fruit are supported by sweet spice, cocoa, dry earth, mediterranean herbs and tobacco. On the Palate, Orma is elegant and dense. Orma's sturdy, yet ripe tannin structure lends the wine a velvety texture. Bright acidity reflects the wine's Italian terroir and keeps the wine balanced through a long finish. Expect excellent ageing potential from Orma.
