Join us for a Walkthrough Tasting featuring a lineup from Walter Scott Wines—an opportunity to experience the wines that have made Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon a benchmark for modern Oregon.
Ken Pahlow will be leading the tasting at Vinonueva. His career spans some of Oregon's most respected cellars to his time working alongside Dominique Lafon in Burgundy.
For Ken and Erica, the pursuit never ends—every vintage is another opportunity to listen, refine, and push forward. Their philosophy is rooted in relationships: with the land, with the growers who farm it, and with the endless process of learning from each season.

"When I am asked if there were any 'great discoveries' in Oregon, I would mention Walter Scott Wines, without hesitation." Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
BACKGROUND
Few stories in American wine embody passion and perseverance quite like Walter Scott. Founded in 2008 by Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon, the winery began powered by a belief that Oregon could produce wines on par with the world’s finest.
From the very beginning, Ken and Erica shared a clear vision: to craft world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that reflect the depth, energy, and tension of the Willamette Valley, especially the rugged hillsides of Eola–Amity. What started as a humble project has become a benchmark estate, known for its precision, purity, and sense of place.

Ken’s journey through some of Oregon’s most respected cellars—St. Innocent, Patricia Green, and Evening Land—forged the foundation of his craft. Yet it was his time working alongside Dominique Lafon in Burgundy that transformed his understanding of what great wine demands: discipline, humility, and the pursuit of constant refinement. That experience not only shaped his technical approach but ignited a lifelong obsession with Chardonnay.
Erica, an Advanced Sommelier and former wine educator, came from the other side of the table—with years of experience building and curating wine programs across Oregon’s best restaurants. Her deep understanding of how wine connects to people and the dialogue between food and wine brought a unique perspective to Walter Scott’s style.
Walter Scott’s heart lies in the Eola–Amity Hills AVA, a windswept ridge in the southern Willamette Valley where basalt-rich soils and the fierce Van Duzer winds create extreme conditions for grape growing.
Ken and Erica work hand in hand with a small group of like-minded growers—people as obsessed as they are with detail, timing, and the integrity of the land. Organic and regenerative practices are the norm, not the exception. Every vineyard they partner with tells a story of dedication and collaboration, from Justice and Sojourner to Seven Springs and Freedom Hill.

In the cellar, every decision is guided by intuition, not recipes. Fermentations are spontaneous, lots are kept small, and each vintage is treated as a blank slate. Ken engages directly with each fermenter—tasting, feeling, and adjusting in real time. Whether it’s whole-cluster Pinot Noir or lees-driven Chardonnay, the goal is always the same: to capture the vitality of the vineyard and the honesty of the vintage.

Texture, precision, and energy define the Walter Scott signature. Their Chardonnays are crystalline and mineral, shaped by long lees aging and restrained oak. Their Pinot Noirs balance fruit and structure with a quiet confidence, offering depth without excess.
