Meet Luisa Rocca
Luisa Rocca represents the new generation of the Bruno Rocca Winery. As a key figure in the family business, she carries forward the passion, dedication, and expertise that have defined the Rocca name in the world of fine Italian wine. Under the guidance of her father, Bruno Rocca, she has gained deep knowledge of the estate's vineyards, winemaking philosophy, and the unique expression of Nebbiolo—the grape that defines their identity.
During this tasting, Luisa will share insights into the winery's history, vineyard practices, and winemaking techniques, offering a unique behind-the-scenes look at what makes these wines exceptional.

BACKGROUND
A Legacy Rooted in Barbaresco
In 1958, Francesco Rocca made a bold move, acquiring land in the prized Rabajà cru of Barbaresco—an area celebrated for producing some of the finest Nebbiolo grapes. In 1978, his son Bruno took the next step, bottling wines under the family name and elevating their reputation worldwide.
Through decades of meticulous vineyard management and cellar practices, the winery has solidified its place among the top producers of Barbaresco. Today, the next generation, Luisa and Francesco, continue the tradition, focusing on sustainability and vineyard-driven expression while expanding the winery's reach internationally.
The Unique Terroir of Barbaresco
Bruno Rocca's vineyards are nestled in the rolling hills of Barbaresco, a small but highly esteemed region in southern Piedmont. The area's unique composition of clay and limestone soil and an optimal microclimate provide the perfect conditions for cultivating Nebbiolo. These factors contribute to the finesse, elegance, and depth found in their wines.
Barbaresco was among the first Italian wines to receive DOC status in 1966 and later the DOCG certification, solidifying its reputation as one of Italy's most outstanding wines. In 2014, the hills of Barbaresco were officially recognized as part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, further highlighting the region's vinicultural significance.
Sustainable Winemaking
Bruno Rocca is committed to environmentally respectful practices, emphasizing biodiversity, avoiding synthetic treatments, and using native yeasts for fermentation. Harvesting is done by hand to ensure that only the highest-quality grapes are selected. The second sorting process at the cellar further refines the selection, allowing only the best fruit to move forward. Fermentation occurs naturally, and aging occurs in seasoned oak barrels, allowing for a gentle and balanced evolution of flavors. Each vineyard's grapes are processed separately to preserve their distinct characteristics, ensuring that every bottle reflects the purity of its origins and the unique expression of its terroir.
